Professional Responsibilities

As an art educator, I promise to continue learning and evolving in my teaching practice. I believe that reflection and growth are essential parts of being an effective educator. I will evaluate my lessons, learn from my mistakes, and seek out opportunities for professional development to enhance my students’ learning experiences. My goal is to create meaningful, inclusive, and engaging lessons that challenge students to think critically, explore creatively, and connect their art to the world around them.

I pledge to go above and beyond expectations to provide my students with the most effective and inspiring art education possible. I view it as my responsibility to continually improve and adapt, integrating new techniques, ideas, and perspectives into my classroom. Through dedication, creativity, and care, I will strive to foster a supportive environment where students feel confident to take artistic risks, express themselves authentically, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Unit Reflections

“After each unit, I reflect on what went well and what could be improved. I collect and analyze student feedback through artist statements. I use this information to adapt lessons and continually refine my teaching approach.”

Critique

"Critiques help students reflect on their work, think critically, and communicate their artistic choices. They provide valuable insight into student understanding, allowing me to assess skills, concepts, and creative growth beyond the finished artwork."

Formative

"I use formative assessments to check my students’ understanding throughout a unit. They help me identify areas where students need support, adjust my teaching, and guide learning before the final assessment."

Summative

"I use summative assessments to measure my students’ learning, track their skill development, and evaluate their understanding of key concepts at the end of a unit or project."
